Tessa's Eyes

Tessa had her appointment with the pediatric ophthalmologist today.  I've been so excited, looking forward to this appointment and getting answers.  I didn't think it would be bad news.  Just more information.  Unfortunately, I was wrong.  When we first saw the doctor he said he thought it was so strange that Tessa was wearing glasses at such a young age, even if she was farsighted.  Her eyes should correct themselves at this age.  He said he didn't think she needed to wear the glasses but would let me know more after he dilated her eyes.  I was so excited!  I called my mom and Trevor to share the great news while we were waiting for her eyes to dilate.  As he was looking at her eyes after he dilated them he said he understood why she needed glasses.  Her situation is very unique.  She is VERY farsighted, which we already knew.  Her exotrophia (eyes turning out) is in both eyes.  We thought it was in just one.  Normally this would correct itself by about 6 months old but given her unique situation she may need corrective surgery when she's a year old.  She also has a problem with her retina.  He thinks she has retinal dystrophy.  I had no idea what that meant as far as how well she could see, so I asked if she'd be able to drive.  He said your eyes are like a camera.  The retina being the film.  If the film is bad you get nothing.  So probably not.  Her eyesight is very limited.  She can only see from about 1.5 - 4 feet.  My heart is breaking for my precious baby.  I'm trying to stay positive but all I can think of are the things she'll never be able to see or do.  All these thoughts are going through my head of how her life will be.  Imagining her sitting in special ed, with a big book and big words and her thick glasses makes me smile.  But I know to all the other kids she will be the perfect target to bully and make fun of.  Daddy will have to give her a blessing and we will have to pray for the best and to have faith.

SEPTEMBER PICTURES

WOOHOO FOR BLOGGING!!!!

I was talking to my favorite cousin Cel tonight about blogging.  I don't blog very much because I feel like everyone's blogs are like look how cool we are!  Look how big my house is!  Look at how much money I have!  Look at how perfect my life is!  Barf! We are not rich.  We really aren't that cool.  Well Trevor is super cool because he flies helicopters but I sit at home playing with little girls all day and my life revolves around them and training for races.  Not super exciting.  We are super duper happy and that's all that matters.  I'm excited to make this my journal and keep up on it.  I've always enjoyed writing in my journal and now I'm excited to have pictures with it.  I apologize ahead of time for the scary pictures you will see of me without make up on and my girls without bows in their hair.

A LITTLE UPDATE AND A TON OF PICTURES

I got the strange urge to blog today.  Maybe it's because I am trying to get Tessa on a schedule so both girls are down for naps!  Hallelujah!

We're back from Mexico and living in Alabama.  Mexico was AMAZING!  We were there for the perfect amount of time.  About 9 months.  We loved every second we were there.  Trevor's work was very unorganized.  He got paid the whole time we were there but probably only worked 25% of the time.  So it was like we were paid to be on vacation, except kinda scary.  If you google Acapulco, Mexico you will see why.  Especially when your husband is working against the drug cartels, instructing the Mexican military and police to fly helicopters.  I also never saw Americans the whole time we were there, so we stuck out like a sore thumb. We met so many awesome people.  I loved our ward and will miss them so much.  I wish I spoke better Spanish so I could tell them how grateful I am to know them.  They are amazing people. It was such a humbling experience living there.

We went back to Utah in April. Tessa was born in Salt Lake on May 17th.  She's so different from Savannah!  We love her so much!  She's a red head with a temper.  She lost her voice in the hospital from screaming.  The baby does not cry, she screams!  She's hilarious!  She got glasses last week and she looks so stinkin cute!

Trevor moved out here to Alabama when Tessa was just a few weeks old.  He's a civilian (he didn't enlist) giving the U.S. Army helicopter flight instruction.  It's pretty fun living in a military town.  Everyone is around our age and has young families.  We also live across the street from our really good friends, Nate and Morgiana Anderson from Florida, which has been SOOOOO much fun!!

I'm training for a marathon in January.  I'm super pumped!  I forgot how frustrating it is trying to get back into shape after having a baby.  My long run last week was 11 miles and I was so excited!  It feels so good to be able to run long distances again!

We are loving Alabama!  I think this is going to be my favorite place we've ever lived.  It is so far.  It's beautiful!  I love living in farm country!

I started a new blog! I've been making beaded socks for Savannah since she was a newborn and I've always gotten tons of compliments and have sold quite a few locally. I'm doing an order right now for flower girls at a wedding! They're super cute! Savannah wears them everyday, to church and just playing outside. HAPPY BIRTHDAY AMERICA!

Savannah's 1st Birthday!

I can't believe Savannah's 1!!! This year has by far been the most awesome, fun, happy, fulfilling year of my life! It was so fun celebrating her yesterday. Of course the day wasn't any different for her except she got to rip paper off of toys. We had our really good friends Matt and Raquel and their baby Juliette over for a BBQ and pool party. Savannah LOVES Juliette! She tries to do everything just like her and loves just watching her. They stayed up all night playing! They're best buds! It was such a fun night! We have friends coming in from Utah so we'll be going to Disney World and Sea World too. She'll get to celebrate her birthday week!

I took her to the doctor today and she weighs 25lbs and is 30 1/2 inches tall. She's so big! I've had several people ask me when she will be turning 2. Nope she's just barely 1! We sure love our princess!!!
